Position: Consulting Maker


Maker Nexus is looking for enthusiastic and motivated Makers, Artists and Crafts people who are interested in becoming a core member of our makerspace in Sunnyvale, California.

Seeking Part Time staff - Consulting Makers for our makerspace. Candidates must be available nights and weekends. Experience with customer service a must.

The Consulting Maker is responsible for smooth operation of the maker space and first class member experience, premier member service and member retention. This position acts as the frontline representative of Maker Nexus and provides excellent customer service and information to current and prospective members.

The Consulting Maker is often in a position to observe member behavior in the shop and will take pride in respectfully reminding members to work within our rules and policies.


The Consulting Maker is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the various machinery.


As our front line contact with members, safety must always be top of mind for the Consulting Maker. Nothing is more important than a safe shop.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Background in Arts and crafts, trades like woodworking, machining, and CNC preferred.

  • A knowledge of the safe operation of a variety of shop tools, specifically wood shop tools.

Location: 1330 Orleans Drive, Sunnyvale, CA

Start Date: Immediate

Type: Full-time or Part-Time, Non-exempt

Rate: $17.10 per hour

Founded in 2018, Maker Nexus is a non-profit community focused Maker Space. We operate a makerspace in Sunnyvale, California. Members work on their personal or business projects, prototyping or hobby. We offer classes and workshops for adults and youth. Our facility includes a wood shop, basic machining, CO2 lasers, 3D printers, vinyl cutter & heat press, various sewing machine and CAD and design software as well as workspace and co-working opportunity. We also host regular community events at our facility.
