Team building Event:
Make For Good - Woodshop
Two local non-profit organizations partner to offer a unique volunteer/team building opportunity.
Your team will spend 3-4 hours together in our shop making small furniture that will be donated to the Bay Area Furniture Bank (BAFB).
BAFB is a non-profit that collects and distributes furniture to individuals and families moving out of homelessness. The BAFB receives many donations from organizations that are renovating sites, such as Stanford Student Housing and local hotel remodels. Often BAFB is in need of specific pieces: smaller side tables, small kitchen tables for four people, small book cases. BAFB recently received 100 bunk beds without ladders, and they now need ladders. We work closely with BAFB to make sure the furniture you build is suited for the current needs of the community.
Maker Nexus provides the expert woodworkers to design the pieces needed, and we teach and guide your team to fabricate the furniture. We purchase high quality lumber - mostly oak and beech - and provide the tools and machines to mill and assemble the pieces. Your team just has to come ready to build for good.
The event is set up for a team of 8 - 15 people. However, we can accommodate teams of up to around 20. Write to schedule an event for your team.
